And here are even more of the wonderful poinsettias I photographed at Longwood Gardens this year. If you like Christmas decorations and have never been to Longwood Gardens in December – I really recommend visiting there. They do an incredible job of decorating for the holidays!

Poinsettias – Pretty in Pink

It’s time for my annual blog posts with photos of lots of poinsettias! For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while – you know that every year Longwood Gardens has all sorts of amazing varieties of poinsettias on display as part of their Longwood Christmas. This year I photographed nine different varieties of poinsettias. I’ll post the pink ones today – and the rest in a couple of days. I hope you enjoy them

Visions of Grandeur Poinsettia – this is one of my favorite poinsettias – I love the shades of pink in the petals that remind me of fluffy pillows!

A Few More Poinsettias

I know – it’s not December – and most people think of poinsettias only during the Christmas season. But I happen to think they are wonderful any time of year. As I was looking at some of the photos I took in December, I found a few more poinsettia photos that I hadn’t shared with you. I thought about waiting until next December to post them. But decided I’d rather share them now – after all won’t some bright red and pink flowers brighten your day any time of year? I know they will brighten up my day.

First are a pair of Ice Crystal Poinsettia photos. Introduced in 2009, Ice Crystal poinsettia has incredible red and white flowers.

Mira Red Poinsettia. Also introduced in 2009, Mira Red is an early blooming poinsettia. In 2010, a white version was introduced.

And finally Ecke Pink Poinsettia. Ecke Pink were introduced in the 1940s and are considered to be the first true pink poinsettia. They were the most popular pink poinsettia up through the late 1960s.

One my favorites was the Santa Claus Pink Poinsettias – wonderful big blossoms in a lovely shade of pink

New Photo: Ice Punch Poinsettia

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Ice Punch Poinsettia – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.

Ice Punch Poinsettia is the fourth in a series of four poinsettia photographs that I am introducing this fall. Even before I saw the identification tag for this poinsettia, the red and white patterns reminded me of the patterns ice makes as water freezes. Ice Punch Poinsettia is one of the most dramatic flowers I’ve had the chance to photograph.

This photograph is available as a 10X10″   gallery-wrapped canvas.  You can order Ice Punch Poinsettia from my website and I will have it available at shows in October and November this year.

New Photo: DaVinci Poinsettia

I’ve recently added a new photo –  DaVinci Poinsettia – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.

DaVinci Poinsettia is the third in a series of four poinsettia photographs that I am introducing this fall.  I love all the shades of pink in DaVinci Poinsettia. The soft colors and dappled patterns create a beautiful look for the holidays.

This photograph is available as a 10X10″   gallery-wrapped canvas.  You can order DaVinci Poinsettia from my website and I will have it available at shows in October and November this year.

New Photo: Monet Twilight Poinsettia

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Monet Twilight Poinsettia – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.

Monet Twilight Poinsettia is the second in a series of four poinsettia photographs that I am introducing this fall.  The red and white color patterns in these flowers were amazing. They really did look like an impressionist painting. It’s easy to see why it was named in honor of Monet’s paintings.

This photograph is available as a 10X10″   gallery-wrapped canvas.  You can order Monet Twilight Poinsettia from my website and I will have it available at shows in October and November this year.
